London Marathon 2008
Well done to all our members who took part in this year's race,
many of whom were first timers. Everybody did really well and deserve to be very proud of their achievements. As usual the club team spirit helped them all through the training and the race itself, with several of them running a large part of the race in pairs. Several more members and families did their bit by cheering them along their way, and a good day was had by all despite the unkind weather.
Cranleigh15/21
The club had a good turn-out for this year's race despite the cold, wet weather. Most of the pre-Marathon runners completed the 21 miles in fantastic times, especially Simon, Anna, Sharron, Niki and Colin who finished first in his age group. A real morale boost, and it bodes well for the big race on 13th April.
Hellrunner : November 2007
As the name suggests, this race was no stroll in the park, but about 11 miles of quite tough trail running with a few deep water hazards on army territory. The 'bog of doom' was not the place you really wanted to hang around in too long, and had a suspiciously nasty whiff to it ! But the 5 Mel's Milers enjoyed the challenge and came away smiling, smelling and in need of a shower !
Cardiff Half Marathon : October 2007
A total of 14 Mel's Milers plus a few family members went to Cardiff for this popular race. Everyone finished with many PBs in good conditions on a fast, flat course. The only difficulty was getting out of the castle grounds afterwards ! (And trying not to upset the Welsh by gloating about the rugby !)
Toronto Marathon : September 2007
Well done to Edward for completing his first marathon whilst in Canada for a wedding ! Good to take advantage of these opportunities when they arise !
