RACE INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION

 

 

VENUE HQ – Bluecoat Sports Centre, Christ’s Hospital School, Horsham, West Sussex, RH13 0YP. 

 

START -The run will start at 10:00am from the quadrangle in the school grounds. 
 

CAR PARKING – in the School and Sports Centre Car Parks. Please follow  the signs and be guided by the marshals.

 

RACE DESK – will be in the school's Wakefield Centre, close to the Sports Centre. It will be manned from 8:00am for collection of race numbers / timing chips. The race is full and entries on the day will not be available.

 

TOILETS - will be found at the Wakefield Centre and at Bluecoat Sports Centre, along with changing rooms and showers. (There will be a small charge for these facilities.) Neither the organisers nor the Sports Centre can accept any responsibility for possessions left in the changing rooms.

 

REFRESHMENTS – will be available from a refreshment van positioned close to the Wakefield Centre throughout the morning, and from the Gallery cafe upstairs at the sports centre.  There will be water available en route in Southwater County Park and at the finish.

 

NUMBERSPlease bring safety pins and ensure that your number is clearly visible and pinned on your front.

 

TIMING CHIPS - Chip Timing UK will provide a chip timing service. Timing chips need to be attached to shoes before the race, and these will be removed at the end.

 

START & FINISH – The start and finish are at the quadrangle (see map) on the school grounds, a short walk from the car park and will be signed and marshaled. Runners should make their way to the start at 9.45am.

A timing mat at the finish line will record your time. Please continue through the finish funnel in order to have your chip removed and collect your medal.

 

THE COURSE – starts from the quadrangle, follows paths around the school grounds before joining the Downs Link footpath to Southwater.  From there the route runs through a residential area for a short distance before crossing a road and entering the Country Park. It follows trails through the Park until it reaches the access point to the Downs Link by which the return to Christ’s Hospital is routed, via a road crossing at Southwater, and finishes back at the quad in the school grounds. The course will be marshaled but please be courteous of other users of the footpaths and Country Park. If conditions are wet sections of the Downs Link footpath can be muddy.

 

RESULTSResults will be published on the Chip Timing UK website later on the day, and can be accessed via a link from this website.

 

PRIZES – Trophies will be awarded to first three males and females, plus age group winners for under 18 and over 40, 50 & 60 males and females, and over 70 males only. These will be presented in the Wakefield Centre at 11:30am. The first three males and females overall will also receive prizes. All finishers will get a specially designed race medal.

 

MEDICAL PROVISION – will be provided at the start/finish.  Anyone feeling unwell during the race should report to a marshal and stay with them until help arrives.
